Cisco 25G Transceivers and Cables Enable 25 Gigabit Ethernet over a Fiber or Copper Cable

Cisco’s 25G transceivers and cables enable 25 Gigabit Ethernet for next generation switch and server applications

Optimal choices for next generation 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications

Benefits

• 25G is the next logical migration from 10G to reduce the cost per Gbit/sec

• 25G provides 2.5 times the bandwidth of 10G using in the same SFP form factor

• 25G is ideal for datacenter top of rack, wireless backhaul and enterprise interconnect applications

• 25G meets the newest server adapter requirements

• 10/25G transceivers are compatible with 10G, 25G, 40G and 100G transceivers

SFP-H25G-CUxM Direct Attached Cables (DAC)

25G DACs provide the lowest cost fixed length 1 to 5 meter interconnect in data center “Top of Rack” consolidation applications where highperformance servers are increasing application density on virtualized servers using 25G Sever Adapters driving network capacity demands to levels previously unimagined using Twin-AX passive copper Ethernet technology.

Figure3. 25G Server Adapters

Optimal choices for next generation 25....png
SFP-25G-AOC-xM Active Optical Cables (AOC)

25G AOC’s provides a cost effect solution for those same data center applications that require longer distance fixed length 1 to 10 meter interconnect using active optical Ethernet technology.

SFP-25G-SR-S Transceivers

SFP-25G-SR-S transceiver are an ideal solution for those same data center applications that require up 100 meters over OM4 fiber or 70 meters over OM3 fiber interconnect using optical (Multi Mode Fiber) MMF Ethernet technology.

SFP-10/25G-CSR-S Transceivers

SFP-10/25-CSR-S provides an ideal solution for many enterprise campus backbones where the distances are less than 300 meters for OM4 fiber or 400 meters for OM3 fiber. (Distance is dependent upon fiber quality)

Figure4. Campus Backbone

SFP-10/25G-LR-S Transceivers

SFP-10/25G-LR-S transceivers provide an ideal solution for service provider applications that require up to 10km reach using SMF (Single Mode Fiber). In addition SFP-10/25G-LR can also be used in the data center applications requiring SMF Ethernet technology.

Cisco brought high-speed Ethernet to the data center with four new Nexus 400G switches it says will ultimately become the foundation of high-density, intent-based networks.
The new 400G Ethernet switches fall into two camps, two boxes in the Nexus 9000 family aimed at large-enterprise network customers and two in the 3400-S class targeted at high-bandwidth hyperscale users.
As for the actual switches, the Nexus 9316D-GX is a 1RU spine switch with 16 400/100/40G ports and the Nexus 93600CD-GX is a 1RU leaf switch with 28 100/40G ports and 8 400/100G ports.
The other Nexus switches, the 3400-S series, are aimed at hyperscale customers. The two models: The Nexus 3432D-S switch is a 1RU switch that offers 32 400G ports, and the 4RU Nexus 3408-S lets customers mix 100G/ 400G connections. Both feature a 12.8Tbps chip with a 70MB buffer.

The new Nexus switches will be generally available in the first half of 2019.

In the following part, we will share the main models and accessories of new Cisco Nexus 400G Switches.

ISR 900 Series for a New Take on a Classic

Modern Hardware for a New Take on a Classic-ISR 900 Series

The new ISR 900 Series builds on that solid foundation with rock-solid 21st century hardware.

The Cisco 900 Series is a silent, fan-less chassis designed to fit into any office. With that comes the interfaces you need today including LTE (available soon), ADSL/VDSL, Gigabit Ethernet WAN and switching. Modern components bring Cisco IOS performance on par with current branch routers including high performance encrypted VPN and firewall. Thousands of features you expect from a Cisco Branch Router, including some the 2500 never dreamed of, are built in such as MPLS, IPSLA, AVC, PfR and more with performance that’s more than 100 times what the 2500 could dream of.

Learn More: The New Cisco’s SOHO Routers-ISR 900

There’s also one more throwback to classic small branch routers you might notice in the new Cisco 900 Series ISR and that’s the internal power supply. The Cisco 921 & 931 ISRs do away with the external power supply “brick” common to branch office devices and brings the power supply inside the router which can really clean up a cluttered branch environment. Getting the power supply inside a passively cooled chassis with a wide temperature range is a big engineering deal.

The Cisco 900 Series is a modern classic. It complements other members of the ISR portfolio, such as the ISR 1000 Series and ISR 4000 Series, while providing an easy migration path for Cisco 800 Series users. It isn’t the fastest or flashiest member of the ISR family. What it is is a solid, reliable performer with the features you need to sort out the most complex of network nightmares.

Key Expansion Module Power Information

If you use a key expansion module with your phone then Power over Ethernet (PoE) is enough to power your expansion modules. But a power cube is needed for smartphone or tablet charging when your key expansion module is attached.

A key expansion module uses 48V DC, 5W per module. If you are charging a smartphone or a tablet, note the following:

  • Side USB: Up to 500mA/2.5W charging

  • Back USB: Fast charging, Supports up to 2.1A/10.5W charging
